Samantha Kent
Samantha Kent is co-owner and winemaker of Alveare Winery in Carnation, Washington, where she and her husband, Xander, craft thoughtful, story-driven wines on their historic farm estate. Her journey to winemaking is anything but traditional beginning with studies in chemistry, contributing to published research in neurology and geriatrics, and spending time in medical school before ultimately choosing a more creative and hands-on path.
Samantha’s winemaking reflects this dynamic background, blending precision and curiosity with artistry and intuition. Inspired by her deep appreciation for science, food, and community, she approaches each vintage as both an experiment and a narrative. At Alveare, every wine is intentionally shaped to reflect a sense of place, capturing the nuances of Washington grapes while telling a story rooted in the land and the people who cultivate it.
Under Samantha’s direction, Alveare Winery has gained recognition as an Eastside Best Winery and a Washington Winery to Watch, praised for its distinctive voice and commitment to authenticity. Her work emphasizes balance, texture, and approachability, while maintaining a sense of creativity and individuality in each release.
For Samantha, winemaking is not just about the final product, it is about connection: to the vineyard, to the craft, and to the community that gathers around the table. Through Alveare, she invites others to share in that experience, one bottle at a time.
